چکیده

The factor structure of the WAIS-R was examined in a U.K. sample free of neurological, psychiatric or sensory disorder (n = 120). Principal components analysis was performed with varimax rotation. Extraction of 2 and 3 factor solutions were specified a priori. For comparison purposes, the same procedures were followed with the U.S.A. standardisation sample data. Encouragingly for U.K. users of the WAIS-R, coefficients of congruence and visual inspection of the factor loadings indicated that factor structure in the U.S.A. and U.K. samples was closely similar.

Investigation of the factor structure of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale--Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV): exploratory and higher order factor analyses.

The present study examined the factor structure of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale--Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV; D. Wechsler, 2008a) standardization sample using exploratory factor analysis, multiple factor extraction criteria, and higher order exploratory factor analysis (J. Schmid & J. M. Leiman, 1957) not included in the WAIS-IV Technical and Interpretation Manual (D. Wechsler, 2008b). Res...

Exploratory and Higher-Order Factor Analyses of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV) Adolescent Subsample

The factor structure of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale–Fourth Edition (WAISIV; Wechsler, 2008a) with the adolescent participants (ages 16–19 years; N 400) in the standardization sample was assessed using exploratory factor analysis, multiple factor extraction criteria, and higher-order exploratory factor analyses. Results from exploratory factor analyses were not included in the WAIS-IV ...

Clinical utility of a seven subtest WAIS-R short form in the neuropsychological assessment of traumatic brain injury.

Comparison of IQ scores from the standard Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised (WAIS-R) and the Ward (1990) seven-subtest short form (WAIS-R/7 SF) was performed on a sample of 459 patients with traumatic brain injury due to head trauma. The results indicate that this short form provides Verbal, Performance, and Full Scale IQ scores that vary little from the complete WAIS-R, at approximatel...

BRIEF REPORT Estimating Premorbid WAIS-RIQ with Demographic Variables: Regression Equations Derived from a UK Sample*

A sample of 200 healthy individuals, representative of the adult UK population in terms of age, gender, and occupational classification, completed a full-length WAIS-R. Demographic variables for the participants were recorded (age, gender, years of education, and occupational classification) and used to develop regression equations for the estimation of premorbid WAIS-R IQ. Step wise multiple r...

A Comparison of WAIS-R and WAIS-III in the Lower IQ Range: Implications for Learning Disability Diagnosis

Background Whether the Flynn effect (the increase in the populations’ IQ over time) affects the IQ scores of people with learning disability or borderline learning disability remains unclear. The issue is important as the Flynn effect should alter the number of people eligible for health service resources. A comparison of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised (WAIS-R) with the Wechsler ...
